Charles “Charlie” Goodwin, 55, of Clarksburg, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 6, 2026. He was born in Clarksburg on December 24, 1970, a son of Patricia (Gibson) Auvil, who survives in Aurora, WV, and the late Robert Eugene Goodwin.
He is survived by his two daughters, Brittany Irvine and her husband Jeremy of Grafton and Mikayla Goodwin of Flemington; his grandchildren, Lillian Irvine; Carter Irvine; Everly Goodwin; and Cohen Irvine.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Jamie Drain; Kevin Goodwin; Mike Goodwin and his wife Lorrie; Bobbie Jo Hardy and her husband Dale; James Russell Goodwin; his step-sister, Darlene Costilow, and his step-brother, Robert Moore; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend, Tim McCauley, loved his Ohio family; and considered the Hardy family his second family.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Debra Kay Goodwin; and his step-brother, Mark Allen Moore.
Charlie had worked for Mazzo Excavating and Appalachian Pool. He loved to spend time with his kids, grandkids, and nieces and nephews. He had a special place in his heart for his niece Morgan Hardy.
He was always the life of the party, put a smile on everyone’s face, and never knew a stranger. He enjoyed camping, sitting around a bonfire having a drink with family and friends, and was an adventurous guy.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., where services will be held at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Flemington IOOF Cemetery.
