James Garfield Morris, 72, of Wallace, WV, formerly of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. He was born in Clarksburg, WV, May 1, 1953, a son of the late Abraham Garfield and Ruth Jane Heater Morris. On February 25, 2023, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy D. Abercrombie Morris, whom he married May 21, 1988.
Surviving are his two sisters, Alice Watson and her husband Ralph, of Wallace, Dorothy McCartney, of Lumberport; sisters-in-law, Diane Morris, Linda Morris, Glenda Morris, Ginger Morris; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James was also preceded in death by his siblings: Joseph Morris, Abraham Morris, Samuel Morris, John Morris, Thomas Morris Evelyn Morris Higgins, Sarah Morris, Lowe; a sister-in-law, Cathy Morris; and brothers-in-law, Bob McCartney and James Higgins.
James had formerly worked as a truck driver for many years. He was employed with Buckeye Steel and Centre Foundry & Machine Company from which he retired in 2010. He was a Godly, easy going, and caring man who was always thankful for God’s forgiving grace. He had occasionally attended Rosemont Chapel in Steubenville, OH. In recent years, he made his home with his sister, Alice Watson and her husband Ralph in Wallace, WV. He loved his church and church families at both New Covenant Fellowship in Cambria, WV and Wallace Full Gospel Chapel, in Wallace, WV where he attended Bible studies, prayer meetings, and regular services. James also enjoyed reading the Word of God, watching and feeding the birds and other animals, family reunions, family and church dinners, giving to Jewish causes, and buying food for the poor and needy. He was very loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 3pm, Saturday, January 24th, with Pastor James Burton officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Steubenville, OH.
