Roger Brown, 78, of Enterprise went to meet his Lord on July 12, 2026. He was born on December 25, 1947, a son of the late Calvin and Vivian Lytle Brown. He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Eva Wolfe Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Verlon Hanson Brown; his son, Michael of Bridgeport; his daughter, Vanessa of Clarksburg; his sweet granddaughter Isabella, whom he adored; his siblings, Donna (Clark) Bruner, Amherst, OH, Sherri Brown, Lakewood, OH, Twila Tomer, Fairmont, Roy (Judy) Brown, Maryville, TN, Paul (Bev) Brown, Enterprise; his Brother-in-law, Jim Pratt, Salem; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Roger graduated in 1965 from Shinnston High School and from Fairmont State College. He was a life long member of Shinnston Church of Christ, where he served as treasurer and song leader. He was employed for over 30 years as a coal miner having worked at Clinchfield, Martinka, and retiring from Federal #2. He was a member of U.M.W. of A. local 1570.
Roger loved sports, following WVU, Pittsburgh Steelers, Duke basketball, and his favorite; watching his granddaughter Isabella play volleyball, run track, and dancing. He loved going to the beach with his family and for his 50th wedding anniversary, traveled to Hawaii with his wife, which was a lifelong dream of his.
Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike St., Shinnston from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday. A funeral service will be at the funeral home at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 16, 2026 with Evangelist Jesse Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Enterprise Cemetery.
