Josh Travelstead, 44, of Lumberport, passed away after courageously battling cancer on Thursday morning, July 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Fairmont on January 21, 1982, a son of James “Jimmy” Travelstead, II, of Rivesville, and Marianne Frazier of Bridgeport.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Southern) Travelstead, whom he married on August 14, 2004.
Also surviving are their three children, Briar Travelstead and her companion, Trevor Kooken; Ella Travelstead, and Cutler Travelstead.
Also surviving are his grandmother, Carolyn Travelstead; his siblings, Jamey Travelstead (Lori), Michael Murphy (Amy), Alissa Gilligan (Justin), and Sean Travelstead (Jordan); his father and mother-in-law, Ed and Rhonda Southern; his sisters-in-law, Stephanie Southern; and Tiffany and her husband Josh Davis; and 16 nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Monica Travelstead.
He was a graduate of Bridgeport High School, Class of 2000, and the Vocational Aviation Mechanics Program at United Technical Center. He was an aviation mechanic with Pratt & Whitney, with over 22 years of service.
He was a member of Centerbranch Church. He assisted with the Liberty High School Football and Mountain Strong. He was also into Sozo Fitness. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bull riding and camping.
Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Tuesday, July 14, from 3 – 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at Centerbranch Church, 2301 Meadowbrook Road, Bridgeport, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., where services will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Luke Brugger.
