Sarah Elaine Jones, 59, of Bridgeport, passed away Monday evening, June 15, 2026, in the United Hospital Center. She had fought a valiant battle with metastatic breast cancer for over 5 years. She was born on May 2, 1967, in Ravenna, OH, a daughter of the late Wayne Davis Bohon and Norma Maxine Williams Bohon.
She is survived by her children, Michael Jones and his companion Doris Rogers of Bridgeport; Hunter Jones of Shinnston; and Alaina Grace Hoch and her husband Derick of Mt. Clare; two grandchildren, Carder Lee Jones and Claire Hoch, with one on the way. Her sisters, Cindy Casten of Virginia; Joni Halloran of Florida; and her brother-in-law, John Chapman of Lost Creek; and her good friend Eleanor McClain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Debbie Chapman; her great-niece, Hayley Beuchert; and her grandparents, Dave and Leafy Bohon and Mabel and Foster Williams.
Sarah was a graduate of Bridgeport High School, Class of 1985. She had previously worked at JoAnn Fabrics; was an industrial seamstress for Schomburg, and was a lease processer for Antero.
She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafting, and reading. She loved listening to The Grateful Dead and camping, especially at Pleasant Creek. But above all she loved spending time and traveling with her grandson Carder.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Thursday evening, June 18, 2026, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. to share stories and memories of Sarah.
