Gerald Joseph “Jerry” Leon, 80, of Bridgeport, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in the United Hospital Center following a brief illness. He was born in Clarksburg on March 21, 1946, a son of the late Joseph and Enid Mahaffey Leon.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Karen Ann (Pratt) Leon, whom he married on August 30, 1968.

Also surviving are 4 sons, Christopher Leon, of Bridgeport; Benjamin Leon and his wife April of Charlotte, NC; Joshua Leon and his wife Holly of Bridgeport; and James Leon and his wife Rachael of Las Vegas, NV; and four grandchildren, Beckett, Lila, Owen, and Caden. A sister, Linda Arthur and her husband Frank of Akron, OH; his nephew, Joe Arthur, and a niece, Susan Arthur complete his family.

Jerry graduated from Bridgeport High School before serving in the US National Guard. He retired from JE Sturm where he was a sheet metal worker and installed heating and air conditioning. He was a member of Mountaineer Cruiser’s Car Club, and a member of All Saints Catholic Church.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 2 – 6 p.m., where a Vigil Service will be held at 6 p.m. to conclude the visitation. Visitation will continue at All Saints Catholic Church on Saturday, June 6, 2026, beginning at 9 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. with Father Walt Jagela as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
