Ernie Matthews, 70, of Shinnston, passed away on March 27, 2026. He was born in Clarksburg on July 15, 1955, a son to the late Thomas Matthews Sr. and Gatha Taylor. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Thomas Matthews Jr.; and great-niece Brooklyn Pode.
He is survived by his niece Laryssa Pode (Shane); great-nephew Ryan Pode; and sister-in-law Donna Matthews, all of Fowlerville, MI.
Ernie loved going to church at Hepzibah Baptist. He also loved going to Lowe’s, and having coffee from McDonalds.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
