Richard Curtis “Rick” O’Dell

Richard Curtis O’Dell, lovingly known as Rick, passed away on October 12, 2026, at the age of 63.

Rick was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in the outdoors, especially bowhunting, where he was truly exceptional. He also had a passion for riding his Harley-Davidson and taking his Ford Mustang to local car shows. Whether he was enjoying the open road, spending time in nature, or making memories with those he loved, Rick embraced the things that brought him happiness.

Above all, Rick deeply loved his family, especially his grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as ‘pappy’. His devotion, love, and care for his wife of 40 years, Henrietta O’Dell, were endless. The life they shared was built on decades of love, commitment, and memories that will forever be cherished.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Henrietta O’Dell; his two children, Christin Nicole Lemasters and Richard O’Dell II (Jasmine Donaway); his three grandchildren, Brooklyn Nicole Buffey, Vada Skye and Roman Medina; his brother, Donald “Digger” O’Dell; his sister, Tracie O’Dell; and his loyal dog pals, Berkley and Teddy. He also leaves behind his nieces and many beloved friends who will miss him dearly and carry his memory in their hearts.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Kathleen O’Dell, affectionately known as Mammaw, and Roy O’Dell; his mother-in-law, Shirley Marie Hern, and father-in-law, John Hern; his sister, Amy O’Dell; and his best friend, General Preston Conley.

Rick’s passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. His love for his family, his passion for the outdoors, his adventurous spirit, and the memories he created with those closest to him will live on forever. Though he is no longer with us, the impact he made and the love he gave will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made directly to his beloved wife, Henrietta O’Dell, to help provide financial assistance during this difficult time. The family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support shown to them as they navigate this tremendous loss.
