Mary J. Hardman, 80, of Anmoore, passed away Tuesday evening, August 11, 2026, in the United Hospital Center. She was born in Clarksburg on March 26, 1946, a daughter of the late Harry R. and Helen M. (Hurst) Carnes.
She was preceded in death by her loving companion of over 37 years, Randy Critchfield, on November 17, 2021.
She is survived by her son, Eddie Hardman and his fiancée’ Alyce Goodwin of Anmoore; her step-son, Scott Critchfield and his wife Marla of Anmoore; her grandson, David Hardman of Bridgeport; granddaughter, Dwanedia Jacobs and her husband Jeremy of NC; and her step-grandchildren, Mikayla Goodwin; Brittany Irvine and her husband Jeremy; and Gavin Nichols. Two sisters, Lorna Shuttlesworth of Morgantown; Donetta Courtney and her husband Blair of Grafton; her sister-in-law, Kim Carnes of Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews complete her family.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Rodney and Michael Hardman; a grandson, Codey Hardman; a daughter-in-law, Shawna Hardman; two brothers, Harry Carnes and William Carnes; and a brother-in-law, Darrell Shuttlesworth.
Mary was a graduate of Grafton High School, and retired from the Harrison County 911 Center as a dispatcher after 28 years of service. In her younger years, she enjoyed fishing and dancing, and always enjoyed playing video lottery machines.
In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated and no formal services will be held.
