She was born in Clarksburg on October 22, 1947, a daughter of the late Lionel Cameron and Edith Pearl Mick Armstrong.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Edward “Marty” Thompson, whom she married on April 20, 1968, and who preceded her in death on February 16, 2021.
Surviving are three sons, David Thompson and his wife Peggy of Beverly, Michael Thompson of Fairmont and Jeremy Starkey of Clarksburg; six grandchildren, Derek Thompson (Brandee) of Clarksburg, Chastity Brannon (Andrew) of Grafton, David Thompson, Jr. of Grafton, Troy Thompson of Oregon, Steven “Stevie” Thompson (Hannah) of Bridgeport and Hunter Thompson (Abigail) of Clarksburg; 13 great grandchildren, Jessika Thompson, Taylah Thompson, Keri May Brannon, Aleecia Thompson, Jayceon “Bubby” Thompson, Aiden Thompson, Aubreiona Brannon, Cassandra (Cassie) Thompson, Kinslee Thompson, Wyatt Eve, Ansley Eve, Riggins Thompson and Andie Kate Thompson; special nephews, Robert Thompson, Jr. of Virginia, Neil Armstrong of Pennsylvania and Nathan Armstrong of Pennsylvania; and several additional nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Steve Thompson, one brother, Leo Armstrong; and one nephew, Kevin Thompson.
Susie previously worked as a Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 11:00 am with Pastor Richard Settles officiating. Interment will be in the WV National Cemetery.
