Janie Murhl Smith, 77, of Clarksburg, passed away on July 26, 2026, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. She was born on November 20, 1948, a daughter of the late Vance K. and Bernice K. Patterson Weekley.
Janie is survived by her children: Douglas K. Smith and wife Tina of Clarksburg, and Stephen B. Smith and wife Kelli of Clarksburg; grandchildren: Quinten Smith, Emalee Smith, and Breckston Smith; sisters: Barbara Wilson and husband Glenn of Salem, and Elaine Childers of Clarksburg; sister-in-law Katherine Weekley of Thornton; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, Janie was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald K. Smith, who passed away on February 01, 2024, and her brother, Patrick Weekley.
Janie worked in the elder care business and also for the United States Postal Service, where she was a clerk at Wolfe Summit until its closing. She most recently worked in housekeeping and retired from the Hampton Inn of Bridgeport.
