Barry Wayne Alkire, 75, of Bridgeport, formerly of Enterprise, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026 at Bridgeport Healthcare Center. He was born April 7, 1951 in Fairmont, a son of the late Charles Benjamin and Isabelle Frye Alkire.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Tarla Kay Hinebaugh Alkire, whom he married on June 29, 1974. Also surviving are his two children, Christy Lynn Kupfer and her husband James of Adamsville; and Barry Michael Alkire and his wife Brittany of Mannington; four grandchildren, Colten Hovermale; Jaxon Kupfer; Rylee Alkire and Sean Alkire; his great-grandson, Miles Hovermale; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, which he and Tarla raised, Melissa Hinebaugh Harbert and her husband Jeffrey of Shinnston; and Jamie Hinebaugh and his daughter Chloe; as well as his sister-in-law, Judy Alkire and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Barry was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Benjamin Alkire II.
Barry was a machinist and was employed at Morgantown Machine which later became Swanson Industries. He loved spending time with his family, especially their many years at Big Bear Campground. Barry also was an avid hunter and loved antique cars.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bridgeport Community Care for their special attention to Barry over the last nine years.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St. Shinnston, on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 6:00pm.
