Nika Ann Howard was born September 16, 2008 in Clarksburg, WV. She passed away on March 15, 2026, following an automobile accident. Nika was the daughter of mothers Jaclyn Waugh and Lacey Sturm, of Bridgeport, and father Daniel Howard, of Morgantown. She also leaves behind two younger brothers, Kash and Kane Howard; and an older sister, Ryan Stackman, all of whom she loved to pick on; and Nika’s dog best friend, Reecee.
Nika is also survived by her maternal great-grandmother Eva Shearer; grandparents Robert “Bob” and Lisa Waugh; Scott and Chrissie Sturm; Aunt Lindsey “LiLi” Williams and husband Jared and their children Brynna & Adler Mayle; Aunt Megan Sturm and her children Sophia & Connor; Uncle Ryley Sturm and wife McKenna and their children Archer & Waylon; Paternal grandmother Helen Howard; Aunt Anna Howard and family; and Aunt Sarah Harmon and family. Also surviving is a long list of great aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who are considered family, all of whom will miss her tremendously. She was preceded in death by maternal great-grandparents Paul Shearer and Darrell & Betty Waugh.
Nika was a vibrant junior in high school whose personality lit up every room she entered. She had a wonderfully boujee sense of style and loved expressing herself through makeup, perfectly done nails, expertly executed lashes, and her favorite skin care routines. She was an avid vegetarian, always trying to convert others. Nika cherished her large circle of friends, filling every gathering with laughter, loud music, and unforgettable memories. Always curious and full of energy, Nika was constantly searching for the next adventure, embracing life with excitement and a spirit that inspired everyone around her.
Though her time with us was far too short, Nika will remain eternally 17- remembered for her bright spirit, her style, and the joy she brought to everyone that knew her.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 12 – 6 p.m., where a celebration of life service will be held at 6 p.m. with Pastor Sherman Goodwin presiding.
